Talon and Maladi

Description

Spent Friday and Saturday at NYCC in Darth Talon, my first Star Wars cosplay (if you don't count the plastic Darth Vader mask I used to wear religiously as a kid LOL)

Wearing this costume was a bit insane and at times overwhelming, and I won't lie, there came a point where my 5" heels absolutely crippled my feet. But wow, it was a lot of work.

Makeup time began at 4:30 in the morning on both days of the con. (I wish this was the sort of makeup you could sleep in, because oh man, that would have been great.)

I had 3 lucky men painting me at the same time. This was all done by free hand, there were no stencils involved.

--Principle paint & tattoo graphics work - :iconakaius: (the Anakin Skywalker of the group.) Who also hand-crafted my armor and customized my Ultrasaber.

--Additional paint application - :iconvinster1701: (our Jedi Master) and "Bats" (our Han Solo.)

I can't thank them enough for all the effort they put in.

--The lekku headpiece is a custom made foam latex prosthetic created from an original sculpt by Twi'lek Pam's Creations [link] She does amazing work.

--The paint on the lekku was done by myself and :iconakaius: again responsible for the tattoo work by free hand.

Now a comment on the Talon costume itself. Talon fans know this isn't the exact outfit. Darth Talon wears far less clothing than I was comfortable sporting at the mayhem event that was NYCC. That and givien how long the makeup took (because we didn't have an airbrush), there was little chance of actually painting my whole body in the time we had. As for Talon's canon barely-there bikini. Well, I'm not exactly a fan of bikinis anyway (don't even wear them to the beach). Maybe when I at last have that board-flat stomach, the bikini and I will talk. But it was not this time. :|

So we modified the bikini aspect. We did try to stay true to the armor and as much else as we could. Had to take some liberties with the tattoos as time (and rushing to catch 11am con panels) permitted--but I'm okay with that. After all, I'm not trying to join the 501st or anything. I would like to add the leg tattoos in the future however.

All things considered, we're all very proud with how she turned out, it was a massive challenge to create and wear, and a tremendous effort on the part of :iconakaius: especially.

Darth Maladi's Costume was all hand-made by Anda, and her makeup, like mine, was all done by the same three lucky guys. They also custom made her saber from scratch.

Additional thanks to :icondarthhell: for providing us with a slew of tattoo reference from his amazing 3D Talon renders :D

I like the way your lekku came out. it's not bulky like most.
